Water Safety Festival

Join us for our 2nd Annual Water Safety Festival event in partnership with Indy Parks and Recreation!

There will be in water activities, ranging from learning water safety skills to engaging in alternative water sports, such as water polo.

We are excited that the Indianapolis Fire Department’s Special Ops team will be joining us again to demonstrate how their scuba divers do a search and recovery!

There will be free food, giveaways, resource vendors, and more!

On-site registration opens at 1:30pm and ends at 2:30pm. Minors must be accompanied by an adult who is granted responsibility for the minor to participant in the in water activities of the event. Release waivers will be signed upon registration.

Last year’s festival hit capacity in the first hour and half! Get their early because you don’t want to miss the biggest water safety event in Indianapolis!

WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT FOR MINORS

Hosted by Sea Scope Inc in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Consolidated City of Indianapolis

I, the undersigned, being the parent or legal guardian of the minor(s) listed below, or an adult accompanying such minor(s), hereby consent to their participation in the aquatic and water-based activities (“Activities”) provided by Sea Scope Inc during the Water Safety Festival on June 22, 2025.

I acknowledge and understand that the event will take place at a facility owned and operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation of the Consolidated City of Indianapolis (“City Parks Department”), and that all aquatic facility operations, including lifeguard staffing and supervision, are under the sole control and responsibility of the City Parks Department. Sea Scope Inc is not responsible for the management or oversight of the aquatic facility or the conduct of City-employed personnel.

In consideration of Sea Scope Inc allowing the minor(s) to participate in the Activities, I hereby voluntarily and knowingly agree as follows:

  1. Assumption of Risk: I fully understand and accept the inherent risks associated with the minor(s)’ participation in aquatic activities, including risks of serious bodily injury, illness, permanent disability, drowning, or death. These risks may arise from the actions, omissions, or negligence of the minor(s), myself, other participants, volunteers, the City Parks Department staff, or Sea Scope Inc.

  2. Waiver and Release: I hereby irrevocably release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Sea Scope Inc, its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, volunteers, and affiliates, as well as any event partners, from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to personal injury, illness, death, or property damage suffered by the minor(s) or myself in connection with the Activities. This includes, without limitation, any incident that occurs as a result of the use of the aquatic facility, equipment, or actions by lifeguards or staff employed by the City Parks Department.

  3. Responsibility of City Parks Department: I acknowledge and agree that all operations of the aquatic facility—including water quality, pool maintenance, enforcement of safety procedures, and lifeguard supervision—are solely the responsibility of the Department of Parks and Recreation of the Consolidated City of Indianapolis. I expressly agree that Sea Scope Inc shall not be liable for any act, omission, or negligence of the City Parks Department or its employees, agents, or representatives.

  4. Medical Authorization: I authorize Sea Scope Inc staff, representatives, or volunteers to seek and secure emergency medical treatment for the minor(s) if necessary, and I agree to bear full financial responsibility for any such treatment.

  5. Photographic Release: I grant Sea Scope Inc the right to photograph and/or record the minor(s) during the event and to use such media in promotional, educational, or fundraising materials without further approval or compensation.

  6. Indemnification: I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sea Scope Inc and its representatives from any and all claims arising out of the minor(s)’ participation, including any claims based on the negligence of the City Parks Department or its personnel.

  7. Binding Effect and Governing Law: This waiver and release shall be binding upon me, the minor(s), and our respective heirs, successors, and legal representatives, and shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Indiana.

I HAVE READ THE ABOVE WAIVER AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS. I TYPING MY NAME BELOW AS MY SIGNATURE FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITH THE INTENTION OF RELEASING SEA SCOPE INC FROM LIABILITY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

International Water Safety Day Swim Safety Clinic

*Youth will require waivers to be signed by parent or legal guardian and proper swim attire is required for in water sessions.

In partnership with USA Swimming and the Boys and Girls Club of Indianapolis, this International Water Safety Day event will be held at Wheeler-Dowe Boys and Girls Club and is open to families! We will be teaching in water skills in addition to a vendor fair from several community organizations that are centered around services for youth and their families! AquaForce Phase I Program - ages 16+

We are excited to begin our AquaForce Program training and will be beginning with Water Safety and Wellness. You must be between the ages of 15-24 years old and available to attend at minimum 6 sessions over the next 6 weeks. Sessions are held Monday and Wednesday evenings at the Wheeler Dowe Boys and Girls Club from 6pm-7:30pm. Awards Celebration

We are happy to announce our 1st Annual Achievement and Awards Celebration of our Sea Scope Inc youth participants! Sea Scope Eco-Warriors, Surface to Seas, and Discoverers participants of 2022 will be recognized and honored for their successful completion of learning ocean literacy principles and ocean stewardship, water safety, swim, snorkeling, and/or scuba diving! Special guest and sponsor reveals for our Discoverers future underwater exploration pathways will be a highlight of the evening!
